ఈ ప్రాజెక్టులో భాగంగా గోదావరి నదిపై 4.3 కిలోమీటర్ల పొడవైన సరికొత్త రైల్వే వంతెనను నిర్మించనున్నారు. తూర్పు గోదావరి, పశ్చిమ గోదావరి, కాకినాడ, అనకాపల్లి మరియు విశాఖపట్నం జిల్లాల మీదుగా సాగే ఈ రైల్వే లైన్ వల్ల సరుకు రవాణా వేగం పెరగడమే కాకుండా ప్రయాణికుల రద్దీ కూడా తగ్గనుంది. విశాఖపట్నం, గంగవరం మరియు కాకినాడ పోర్టులకు మెరుగైన కనెక్టివిటీ లభించనుంది. దీనివల్ల ఏటా దాదాపు రూ. 1,150 కోట్ల లాజిస్టిక్ ఖర్చులు ఆదా అవుతాయని, సుమారు 135 లక్షల పనిదినాల ఉపాధి లభిస్తుందని ప్రభుత్వం అంచనా వేస్తోంది. ఈ నిర్ణయం పట్ల ముఖ్యమంత్రి చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు హర్షం వ్యక్తం చేస్తూ కేంద్రానికి ధన్యవాదాలు తెలిపారు.

Amaravati/New Delhi: In a major boost to the rail infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh, the Union Cabinet has cleared the expansion of the vital Nidadavolu–Duvvada railway section. As part of the AP Railway Line Projects 9889 Crores 2026, the central government has sanctioned the construction of the 3rd and 4th railway lines covering a distance of 198 kilometers between Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam. This strategic move aims to decongest one of the busiest corridors of the Howrah–Chennai high-density network.
The project, estimated at ₹9,889 crore, includes a significant 4.3-km long rail bridge over the Godavari River. Passing through major districts like East Godavari, Konaseema, and Kakinada, the quadrupling of these tracks will drastically improve connectivity to major ports like Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, and Kakinada. Officials stated that the project will facilitate an additional freight traffic of 29 million tonnes per annum, largely benefiting sectors like coal, steel, and cement. Beyond industrial gains, it is expected to generate 13.5 million man-days of employment and save nearly ₹1,150 crore annually in logistics costs by shifting cargo from road to rail. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu thanked PM Modi for this developmental milestone, noting that it would significantly reduce travel time for passengers.
