ఆఫ్రికా దేశాల్లో ఎబోలా వైరస్ వేగంగా వ్యాప్తి చెందుతుండటంతో భారత ప్రభుత్వం అప్రమత్తమైంది. ఈ నేపథ్యంలోనే జూన్ 1వ తేదీ నుండి దేశ రాజధాని ఢిల్లీలో ఎంతో ప్రతిష్టాత్మకంగా జరగాల్సిన మొదటి International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) సమిట్‌ను తాత్కాలికంగా వాయిదా వేస్తున్నట్లు కేంద్ర పర్యావరణ మంత్రిత్వ శాఖ అధికారికంగా ప్రకటించింది.

ఆఫ్రికా దేశాల భాగస్వామ్యం ఎంతో కీలకమైన ‘ఇండియా-ఆఫ్రికా ఫోరమ్ సమిట్’తో కలిపి ఈ సదస్సును నిర్వహించాల్సి ఉంది. అయితే ఆఫ్రికా ఖండంలో ప్రస్తుతం నెలకొన్న ప్రజారోగ్య అత్యవసర పరిస్థితిని దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకుని, ఆఫ్రికన్ యూనియన్ ప్రతినిధులతో చర్చించిన తర్వాతే కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం ఈ కఠిన నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది.

విమానాశ్రయాల్లో హై అలర్ట్

ఈ వైరస్ ముప్పు దేశంలోకి రాకుండా ఉండేందుకు కేంద్ర ఆరోగ్య మంత్రిత్వ శాఖ దేశంలోని అన్ని ప్రధాన అంతర్జాతీయ విమానాశ్రయాలు, రేవుల్లో హై అలర్ట్ ప్రకటించింది. ముఖ్యంగా ఎబోలా ప్రభావిత దేశాలైన కాంగో, ఉగాండా, దక్షిణ సూడాన్ వంటి ప్రాంతాల నుండి వచ్చే ప్రయాణికులకు విమానాశ్రయాల్లోనే ప్రత్యేక స్క్రీనింగ్ పరీక్షలు నిర్వహించాలని ఆదేశాలు జారీ చేసింది.

ప్రయాణికులకు జ్వరం, అలసట, ఒంటినొప్పులు లేదా రక్తస్రావం వంటి లక్షణాలు ఉంటే వెంటనే ఆరోగ్య అధికారులకు సమాచారం అందించాలని కేంద్రం కోరింది. ప్రస్తుతానికైతే భారతదేశంలో ఎలాంటి ఎబోలా కేసులు నమోదు కాలేదని, కేవలం ముందస్తు జాగ్రత్త చర్యల్లో భాగంగానే ఈ తనిఖీలను కఠినతరం చేసినట్లు అధికారులు స్పష్టం చేశారు.

పులులు, సింహాలు, చిరుతపులులు వంటి ఏడు రకాల పెద్ద పిల్లి జాతుల సంరక్షణ కోసం భారతదేశం చొరవతో ఈ International Big Cat Alliance ఏర్పాటు చేయబడింది. ఈ సదస్సులో పాల్గొనడానికి ఆఫ్రికాలోని అనేక దేశాల ప్రతినిధులు, వివిధ దేశాల అధినేతలు ఢిల్లీకి రావాల్సి ఉంది. అందరి భాగస్వామ్యాన్ని నిర్ధారించడానికి సదస్సును వాయిదా వేశారు.
