Visakha East TDPలో మార్పు సంకేతాలు? వెలగపూడికి చెక్ పడుతుందా?
విశాఖ జిల్లా ఏర్పడిన తరువాత స్వాతంత్య్రం వచ్చి ఇన్నేళ్ళ పాటు ఎన్నికలు జరిగాక వరుసగా నాలుగు సార్లు ఎమ్మెల్యేగా గెలిచిన అతి కొద్ది మంది నేతలలో ఆయన కూడా ఒకరుగా ఉన్నారు. విశాఖ తూర్పు నియోజకవర్గం 2009లో ఏర్పాటు అయిన దగ్గర నుంచి వరసబెట్టి టీడీపీ గెలుస్తూ వస్తోంది. ఇప్పటికి నాలుగు సార్లు ఎన్నికలు జరిగితే అన్ని సార్లూ టీడీపీ తరఫున గెలిచిన ఏకైక ఎమ్మెల్యేగా Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu ఉన్నారు. ఆయన ఈసారితో ఏకంగా 20 ఏళ్ళ పాటు ఎమ్మెల్యేగా నియోజకవర్గాన్ని ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహించిన నేతగా రికార్డు క్రియేట్ చేస్తున్నారు. విశాఖ జిల్లా ఏర్పడిన తరువాత వరుసగా నాలుగు సార్లు ఎమ్మెల్యేగా గెలిచిన అరుదైన నేతల్లో ఆయన ఒకరుగా నిలిచారు.
అయితే ఆయనకు సామాజిక సమీకరణల కారణంగా మంత్రి పదవి దక్కలేదనే చర్చ పార్టీ వర్గాల్లో వినిపిస్తోంది. మరోవైపు తన రాజకీయ వారసుడిని వచ్చే ఎన్నికల కోసం సిద్ధం చేస్తున్నారనే ప్రచారం కూడా సాగుతోంది. ఇదిలా ఉంటే ఇటీవల జరిగిన జిల్లా పార్టీ ఎమ్మెల్యేల సమీక్ష సమావేశంలో అధినేత N. Chandrababu Naidu తూర్పు నియోజకవర్గాన్ని ఉద్దేశించి చేసిన వ్యాఖ్యలు పార్టీలో చర్చనీయాంశంగా మారాయని అంటున్నారు.
వెలగపూడికి ఓపిక తగ్గిందంటూ పార్టీ అధిష్ఠానం వ్యాఖ్యానించిందనే ప్రచారం జరుగుతోంది. అదే సమయంలో తూర్పులో బలంగా ఉన్న యాదవ సామాజిక వర్గాన్ని కూడా కలుపుకుని వెళ్లాలని సూచించినట్టు రాజకీయ వర్గాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. దీంతో విశాఖ తూర్పుపై పార్టీ హైకమాండ్ ప్రత్యేక దృష్టి పెట్టిందనే అభిప్రాయం వ్యక్తమవుతోంది.

ఇటీవల టీడీపీ రాష్ట్ర, జాతీయ కమిటీల నియామకాల్లో విశాఖ తూర్పు నియోజకవర్గానికి చెందిన వీఎంఆర్డీఏ చైర్మన్ Pranav Gopalకు కీలక బాధ్యతలు దక్కడం రాజకీయంగా ప్రాధాన్యం సంతరించుకుంది. అదే సమయంలో సీనియర్ నేత వెలగపూడికి లేదా ఆయన వారసుడిగా భావిస్తున్న యువ నాయకుడికి పెద్దగా ప్రాధాన్యం ఇవ్వకపోవడం కొత్త చర్చకు దారి తీసింది.
ప్రణవ్ గోపాల్ మంత్రి Nara Lokeshకు సన్నిహిత వర్గానికి చెందిన నాయకుడిగా గుర్తింపు పొందారని పార్టీ వర్గాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. అందుకే ఆయనకు ప్రతిష్టాత్మకమైన వీఎంఆర్డీఏ చైర్మన్ పదవిని కొనసాగించడమే కాకుండా పార్టీలో కూడా కీలక స్థానం కల్పిస్తున్నారనే విశ్లేషణ వినిపిస్తోంది. దీంతో భవిష్యత్తులో విశాఖ తూర్పు అసెంబ్లీ బరిలో ఆయనను నిలబెట్టే అవకాశాలపై చర్చ జరుగుతోంది.
మరోవైపు తూర్పు నియోజకవర్గంలో బీసీ ఓటర్ల ప్రభావం ఎక్కువగా ఉండటం కూడా రాజకీయ సమీకరణాలను ప్రభావితం చేస్తోంది. ముఖ్యంగా యాదవ సామాజిక వర్గం గాజువాకతో పాటు తూర్పులో కూడా ప్రాధాన్యం ఇవ్వాలని డిమాండ్ చేస్తోందని అంటున్నారు. ఒకవేళ సామాజిక సమీకరణాలను పరిగణనలోకి తీసుకుంటే యాదవ వర్గం నుంచి కూడా బలమైన నాయకులను టీడీపీ ముందుకు తీసుకురావచ్చనే అభిప్రాయం వ్యక్తమవుతోంది.
మొత్తంగా చూస్తే 2029 ఎన్నికల నాటికి సీట్ల పెంపు లేకపోతే టీడీపీలో భారీ రాజకీయ మార్పులు చోటుచేసుకునే అవకాశం ఉందని రాజకీయ విశ్లేషకులు అంచనా వేస్తున్నారు. సిట్టింగ్ ఎమ్మెల్యేగా వెలగపూడి ప్రభావం కొనసాగుతున్నప్పటికీ, పార్టీ అధిష్ఠానం తీసుకునే నిర్ణయమే తుది నిర్ణయమవుతుందని రాజకీయ వర్గాలు చెబుతున్నాయి.

Since the formation of the Visakha East Assembly constituency in 2009, the Telugu Desam Party has maintained a strong electoral hold over the segment. Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu has emerged as the only leader to win the constituency in all four consecutive elections, creating a significant political record in Visakhapatnam district politics.
With nearly two decades of uninterrupted representation, Velagapudi has established himself as one of the most influential TDP leaders in the region. However, despite his seniority, social equation dynamics reportedly prevented him from securing a ministerial berth, which has remained a topic of discussion within party circles.
At the same time, there is growing speculation that he is preparing his political successor for the future. Recent remarks reportedly made by N. Chandrababu Naidu during an internal party review meeting regarding Visakha East have triggered fresh political debate within the TDP.
Party insiders suggest that the leadership is keen on expanding its social outreach in the constituency, particularly among the influential Yadav community. This has led to speculation that the TDP high command is closely monitoring political developments in Visakha East ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The recent elevation of Pranav Gopal, who currently serves as VMRDA Chairman, has added a new dimension to Visakha East politics. His growing prominence in both party and administrative circles is being widely interpreted as part of a larger political strategy.
Interestingly, while Pranav Gopal received key responsibilities in recent TDP committee appointments, neither Velagapudi nor his politically active son was given a major organizational role. This has intensified speculation about possible leadership restructuring in the constituency.
Political observers point out that Pranav Gopal is considered close to Nara Lokesh and is viewed as part of the emerging next-generation leadership within the party. His continued prominence in the VMRDA role and increasing importance within the organization have fueled discussions about a possible Assembly candidature from Visakha East in the future.
Meanwhile, the constituency’s strong BC voter base, especially the Yadav community, is becoming increasingly important in TDP’s political calculations.
