ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్ర జీవవైవిధ్య పురస్కారం-2026: తిరుపతి ‘ట్రెకింగ్ బాలు’ కు అత్యున్నత గౌరవం!

తిరుపతి: మూడు దశాబ్దాలుగా శేషాచలం అడవులు, తిరుమల కొండల ప్రాంతంలో జీవవైవిధ్యాన్ని డాక్యుమెంట్ చేయడంలో బండారు బాలసుబ్రహ్మణ్యం అద్భుతమైన పాత్ర పోషించారు. AP State Biodiversity Award 2026 Bandaru Balasubrahmanyam పర్యావరణ, అటవీ, సైన్స్ & టెక్నాలజీ శాఖ పరిధిలోని ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్ర జీవవైవిధ్య మండలి (APSBB) ఆయనను వ్యక్తిగత విభాగంలో “బయోడైవర్సిటీ కన్సర్వర్ అవార్డు – 2026” కు ఎంపిక చేసింది. ఈ పురస్కారాన్ని ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్ర జీవవైవిధ్య మండలి ఛైర్మన్ నీలాయపాలెం విజయకుమార్ చేతులమీదుగా ఆయన అందుకున్నారు. ఈ సంవత్సరం అంతర్జాతీయ జీవవైవిధ్య దినోత్సవం “Acting locally for global impact” (ప్రపంచ ప్రభావం కోసం స్థానికంగా కృషి చేద్దాం) అనే ప్రతిష్టాత్మకమైన థీమ్‌తో నిర్వహించబడింది.

బండారు బాలసుబ్రహ్మణ్యం గడిచిన 35 ఏళ్లుగా అన్వేషకుడిగా, ఫోటోగ్రాఫర్‌గా శేషాచలం అటవీ ప్రాంతంలో సేవలందిస్తున్నారు. ముఖ్యంగా అంతరించిపోతున్న అరుదైన ‘గోల్డెన్ గెక్కో’ (బంగారు బల్లి) లభ్యతను గుర్తించి నివేదించడం, పాతకాలపు రాక్ ఆర్ట్ (ప్రాచీన శిలా చిత్రాలు) కనుగొనడంలో ఆయన కీలక పాత్ర పోషించారు. యువతలో పర్యావరణ స్పృహ పెంపొందించడానికి నిరంతరాయంగా 155 వారాల పాటు ఆదివారం ఉదయపు ట్రెకింగ్ కార్యక్రమాలు (Sunday Sunrise Treks) నిర్వహించి ఎందరికో ఆదర్శంగా నిలిచారు. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ అటవీ శాఖ, స్థానిక యానాది తెగల సమన్వయంతో పర్యావరణ పరిరక్షణ, కొత్త ట్రెకింగ్ మార్గాల అన్వేషణలో ఆయన చేసిన సేవలను రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం ఈ సందర్భంగా కొనియాడింది.

ఈ పురస్కారాన్ని శేషాచలం అడవుల రక్షణ కోసం రాత్రింబగళ్లు శ్రమిస్తున్న అటవీ సిబ్బందికి, తనతో నడిచిన సహచర ట్రెక్కర్లకు, అడవిలో తనను జాగ్రత్తగా చూసుకునే యానాది మిత్రులకు అంకితం ఇస్తున్నట్లు బాలసుబ్రహ్మణ్యం ప్రకటించారు. ప్రస్తుతం ఆయన మొజాయిక్ అడ్వెంచర్ కమ్యూన్ (MAC) సెక్రటరీగా జిల్లాలో పర్యావరణ స్పృహను పెంపొందించడంలో చురుకైన పాత్ర పోషిస్తున్నారు. గత ఏడాది జరిగిన అంతర్జాతీయ జీవవైవిధ్య దినోత్సవంలో బాలసుబ్రహ్మణ్యం సోదరుడు, మ్యాక్ (MAC) వ్యవస్థాపకుడు బి.వి.రమణకి “గ్రీన్ జర్నలిస్ట్” పురస్కారం దక్కడం విశేషం. ఈ అరుదైన గౌరవం దక్కడం పట్ల తిరుపతికి చెందిన పర్యావరణ ప్రేమికులు, సామాజిక సంస్థల ప్రతినిధులు, అటవీ శాఖ అధికారులు ఆయనకు ఘనంగా శుభాకాంక్షలు తెలియజేశారు.

In a robust validation of grassroots environmental activism, Tirupati’s acclaimed explorer and conservationist, Bandaru Balasubrahmanyam, popularly known as ‘Trekking Balu’, was conferred with the prestigious “Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Award-2026.” Executed under the official compliance mandates of the AP State Biodiversity Award 2026 Bandaru Balasubranuam tracking index, the formal announcement materialized during the International Day for Biological Diversity on May 22. The apex honor was officially presented at the Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) Auditorium in Guntur by Sri Nilayapalem Vijayakumar, Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board, functioning under the Department of Environment, Forests, Science & Technology.

Operating under this year’s global sustainable development baseline theme, “Acting locally for global impact,” the provincial government evaluated Balasubrahmanyam’s three decades of rigorous ecosystem monitoring across the highly sensitive Seshachalam Forest ranges and Tirumala hill ecosystems. His institutional-grade documentation work significantly augmented local ecological archives. Most notably, his field operations led to the critical identification and systematic reporting of the endangered ‘Golden Gecko’ habitats alongside the discovery of prehistoric tribal rock art structures hidden deep within the forested corridors of Rayalaseema.

Structural Framework and Community Integration

Balasubrahmanyam’s environmental strategy seamlessly blends institutional forestry goals with localized tribal knowledge systems to foster sustainable ecotourism models.

• Sunday Sunrise Treks Protocol: To systematically inject environmental consciousness into the local youth demographics, he organized and sustained the ‘Sunday Sunrise Treks’ initiative uninterruptedly for 155 consecutive weeks.
• Indigenous Alliance Matrix: His navigation blueprints and habitat restoration initiatives are achieved via synchronized coordination with the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department and the indigenous Yanadi tribal groups.
• Organizational Leadership: Serving as the Secretary of the Mosaic Adventure Commune (MAC) in Tirupati, he continues to structuralize eco-awareness training blocks across the Chittoor and Tirupati administrative districts.

Upon accepting the Individual Category ‘Biodiversity Conserver Award – 2026’, Balasubrahmanyam expressed profound gratitude to his institutional allies, dedicated trekking groups, and his indigenous Yanadi companions who ensured his physical safety during complex deep-forest explorations. He formally dedicated the award to the ground-level forest tracking staff patrolling the Seshachalam biosphere. Notably, this marks a consecutive institutional win for the family unit; during the previous year’s biological diversity convention, his brother and MAC founder, Sri B.V. Ramana, was honored with the “Green Journalist” award, establishing a strong legacy of ecological conservation within the region.
