గోవా: దక్షిణ ఆసియా ఫుట్బాల్ సమాఖ్య (SAFF) మహిళల ఛాంపియన్షిప్-2026కు భారత్ వేదిక కానుంది. మే 24 నుండి జూన్ 7 వరకు గోవాలోని ఫటోర్డాలో ఉన్న జవహర్లాల్ నెహ్రూ స్టేడియంలో ఈ ప్రతిష్టాత్మక టోర్నీ జరగనుంది. SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 Goa India కు ఆతిథ్య హక్కులు లభించడంపై ఆలిండియా ఫుట్బాల్ ఫెడరేషన్ (AIFF) హర్షం వ్యక్తం చేసింది. సుమారు దశాబ్ద కాలం తర్వాత భారత్కు ఈ టోర్నీ నిర్వహించే అవకాశం దక్కింది.

పాకిస్తాన్ దూరం – గ్రూపుల వివరాలు: ఈ టోర్నీలో మొత్తం 6 జట్లు తలపడనుండగా, పాకిస్తాన్ మహిళల జట్టు ఈసారి టోర్నీ నుండి వైదొలిగింది. జట్లను రెండు గ్రూపులుగా విభజించారు:
- గ్రూప్-ఎ: నేపాల్, శ్రీలంక, భూటాన్.
- గ్రూప్-బి: భారత్, బంగ్లాదేశ్, మాల్దీవులు.
గ్రూప్ దశలో టాప్-2లో నిలిచిన జట్లు సెమీఫైనల్స్కు అర్హత సాధిస్తాయి. భారత్ గతంలో ఐదుసార్లు ఛాంపియన్గా నిలిచినప్పటికీ, గత రెండు ఎడిషన్లలో (2022, 2024) రన్నరప్తో సరిపెట్టుకుంది. 2019లో నేపాల్పై విజయం సాధించి చివరిసారిగా టైటిల్ గెలిచిన భారత మహిళల జట్టు, ఈసారి స్వదేశంలో జరుగుతున్న టోర్నీలో మరోసారి ట్రోఫీని కైవసం చేసుకోవాలని పట్టుదలతో ఉంది.

Goa: India is all set to host the prestigious SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 Goa India from May 24 to June 7. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) confirmed that the tournament will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa. This marks the return of the regional championship to Indian soil after a decade, providing a massive boost to women’s football in the country.
Tournament Format and Pakistan’s Withdrawal: A total of six South Asian nations will compete for the title, though Pakistan has officially withdrawn from this edition. The teams have been divided into two competitive groups:
- Group A: Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan.
- Group B: India, Bangladesh, Maldives.
Defending champions Bangladesh and five-time winners India are the favorites to advance from Group B. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, followed by the grand finale on June 7. India last won the title in 2019 by defeating Nepal but finished as runners-up in the previous two editions. With the home-crowd advantage in Goa, the Indian Blue Tigresses are eyeing their sixth SAFF trophy.
