తెలంగాణలో కుల గణన నివేదిక: ఓసీల్లో రెడ్డి కులస్తులదే ఆధిపత్యం
తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం తాజాగా విడుదల చేసిన Telangana Caste Census నివేదిక రాష్ట్రంలోని సామాజిక ముఖచిత్రాన్ని ఆవిష్కరించింది. ఈ నివేదిక ప్రకారం రాష్ట్రంలో మొత్తం 20 ఓపెన్ కేటగిరీ (ఓసీ) కులాలు ఉండగా, వారి మొత్తం జనాభా 56,01,539 గా నమోదైంది. ఇది రాష్ట్ర మొత్తం జనాభాలో 15.79 శాతానికి సమానం. ఈ గణాంకాల్లో ఓసీ సామాజిక వర్గాల్లో రెడ్డి కులస్తులు అత్యధిక జనాభాతో అగ్రస్థానంలో నిలిచారు.
రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా రెడ్డి సామాజిక వర్గం జనాభా 17,06,867 మంది ఉన్నట్లు ప్రభుత్వం గుర్తించింది. అంటే ఓసీ జనాభాలో వీరు 30.47 శాతంగా ఉన్నారు. మొత్తంగా చూస్తే రాష్ట్ర జనాభాలో వీరి వాటా 4.8 శాతంగా ఉంది. వెలమల జనాభా 1,43,279 గా ఉండగా, వారు ఓసీల్లో 2.56 శాతం, మొత్తం రాష్ట్ర జనాభాలో కేవలం 0.4 శాతంగా మాత్రమే ఉన్నారు.

The latest Telangana Caste Census report released by the state government highlights the demographic distribution of the Open Category (OC) population. According to the data, there are 20 OC castes in the state, totaling a population of 56,01,539, which accounts for 15.79% of the state’s total population. Among the forward castes, the Reddy community has emerged as the most dominant group in terms of numbers.
The report states that the Reddy population stands at 17,06,867, making up 30.47% of the OC category and 4.8% of the total state population. In contrast, the Velama community accounts for 1,43,279 people, representing 2.56% of OCs and 0.4% of the overall population. This Telangana Caste Census provides a detailed breakdown of social structures within the forward castes.
Other Caste Statistics Following the Reddy community, Upper-caste Muslims and Vysyas occupy the second and third positions respectively within the OC category. Other significant groups include Kamma, Brahmin, Kapu/Naidu, Velama, Raju, Iyengar, and Jains. The survey also noted that several groups like Sikhs and Lingayats constitute less than 1% of the OC population.
Interestingly, the Telangana Caste Census data revealed that over 12.04 lakh individuals did not disclose their caste during the survey. Regarding housing, the government identified 19,04,884 households belonging to the OC category, which is approximately 16.98% of the total households in the state.
