భువనేశ్వర్, జూన్ 20: అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడు డొనాల్డ్ ట్రంప్ ఆహ్వానాన్ని ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోడీ మర్యాదపూర్వకంగా తిరస్కరించారు. ‘‘పవిత్ర మహాప్రభు భూమికి తిరిగి వెళ్ళాల్సిన అవసరం ఉంది’’ అనే కారణంతో ఆయన ట్రంప్ ఆహ్వానాన్ని స్వీకరించలేకపోయారని చెప్పారు. ప్రస్తుతం ఒడిశాలో పర్యటిస్తున్న మోడీ, భువనేశ్వర్‌లో నిర్వహించిన బహిరంగ సభలో ఈ విషయాన్ని వెల్లడించారు.
గత రెండు రోజుల క్రితం కెనడాలో జరిగిన G7 సమిట్‌లో పాల్గొన్న సందర్భంలో, అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడు ట్రంప్ ఫోన్ చేసి, వాషింగ్టన్‌కి రావాలని, కలిసి భోజనం చేస్తూ చర్చిద్దామని ఆహ్వానించినట్లు మోడీ తెలిపారు. ఆయన ఎంతో ఆత్మీయతతో ఆహ్వానించినా, తనకు మహాప్రభువు భూమికి రావడం అత్యవసరం (important) అని భావించి ఆ ఆహ్వానాన్ని మర్యాదగా తిరస్కరించానన్నారు.
“మీ ప్రేమ, భక్తి మహాప్రభువు పట్ల ఉన్న భక్తి (devotion) నన్నీ ఈ భూమికి తీసుకువచ్చాయి” అని మోడీ వ్యాఖ్యానించారు. మహాప్రభువు పుణ్యభూమికి వచ్చినందుకు తాను ఆనందంగా ఉన్నానని ఆయన చెప్పారు.

Why PM Modi turned down Trump’s dinner invite
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently touring Odisha, revealed that he politely declined an invitation from US President Donald Trump, citing his commitment to return to the sacred land of Mahaprabhu. Modi made the statement during a public rally in Bhubaneswar.
Just two days ago, while attending the G7 Summit in Canada, PM Modi received a call from Trump. The US President requested that Modi stop by Washington for dinner and discussions. However, the Prime Minister felt it was more important to return to the land of Mahaprabhu, and hence declined the offer respectfully.
“The love and devotion you all have for Mahaprabhu brought me here,” Modi said to the cheering crowd. He expressed joy in visiting such a spiritually significant land and said it felt more fulfilling than attending diplomatic dinners.
The emotional tone of Modi’s speech struck a chord with the audience, many of whom responded with loud cheers. His expression of affection for cultural and religious heritage, despite being a global leader, was widely appreciated.
