త్యాగరాజులకు దక్కని ఊరట: వర్మ vs మర్రి రాజశేఖర్ రాజకీయం

పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ 70 వేల ఓట్ల మెజారిటీతో గెలవడంలో వర్మ కృషి అనిర్వచనీయం. ఆ సమయంలో వర్మకు ఎమ్మెల్సీ ఇస్తామని చంద్రబాబు హామీ ఇచ్చినప్పటికీ, కూటమి సమీకరణాల వల్ల అది సాధ్యపడలేదు. ఇటీవల ఆయనను నియోజకవర్గ ఇంచార్జ్ బాధ్యతల నుంచి తప్పించడంపై వైసీపీ రచ్చ చేస్తోంది. అయితే, పార్టీ ఆయనను రాష్ట్ర ఉపాధ్యక్షుడిగా నియమించి గౌరవించిన విషయాన్ని వైసీపీ విస్మరిస్తోందని టీడీపీ శ్రేణులు వాదిస్తున్నాయి.

మర్రి రాజశేఖర్ ఉదంతం గుర్తుందా?
టీడీపీని వేలెత్తి చూపుతున్న వైసీపీ, గతంలో తాము చేసిన త్యాగాలను ఒకసారి గుర్తు చేసుకోవాలని విశ్లేషకులు సూచిస్తున్నారు. 2019 ఎన్నికల సమయంలో చిలకలూరిపేట నియోజకవర్గంలో కీలక నేత మర్రి రాజశేఖర్ టికెట్ను కాదని, విడదల రజనీకి కేటాయించారు. అప్పట్లో జగన్ స్వయంగా మర్రి రాజశేఖర్కు ఎమ్మెల్సీతో పాటు మంత్రి పదవి ఇస్తానని బహిరంగంగా హామీ ఇచ్చారు.
కానీ అధికారంలోకి వచ్చిన తర్వాత నాలుగున్నరేళ్ల పాటు మర్రి రాజశేఖర్ను వెయిటింగ్ లిస్ట్లోనే పెట్టారు. చివరి నిమిషంలో సామాజిక సమీకరణాల దృష్ట్యా తప్పనిసరి పరిస్థితుల్లో ఆయనకు పదవి దక్కింది. నాటి జగన్ హామీల అమలు తీరును మర్చిపోయి, ఇప్పుడు వర్మ విషయంలో విమర్శలు చేయడం “గోడ మీద పిల్లి వాటం”లా ఉందని రాజకీయ వర్గాల్లో చర్చ సాగుతోంది.
త్యాగాల వెనుక రాజకీయ ప్రయోజనాలు
కూటమి ప్రయోజనాల కోసం వర్మ త్యాగం చేస్తే, నాడు ఏ ప్రయోజనాల కోసం మర్రి రాజశేఖర్ను పక్కన పెట్టారో వైసీపీ నేతలకు సమాధానం లేదని విమర్శలు వస్తున్నాయి. చంద్రబాబు వర్మకు ఎప్పుడూ మంత్రి పదవి ఇస్తానని చెప్పలేదు, కానీ జగన్ చెప్పి కూడా మర్రిని ఇబ్బంది పెట్టారని టీడీపీ గుర్తు చేస్తోంది.
ప్రస్తుతం వర్మకు రాష్ట్ర స్థాయిలో కీలక పదవి ఇచ్చి పార్టీ గౌరవించింది. రాజకీయాల్లో పదవుల పంపిణీ అనేది ఎప్పుడూ సమీకరణాల మీద ఆధారపడి ఉంటుంది. తమ తప్పులను కప్పిపుచ్చుకుంటూ ఇతరుల మీద విమర్శలు చేయడం రాజకీయాల్లో పరిపాటిగా మారిందని ఈ ఉదంతం నిరూపిస్తోంది.

The concept of “political sacrifice” has become a central theme in Andhra Pradesh’s political discourse, especially concerning TDP’s SVSN Varma. YSRCP leaders have been trolling the alliance government, claiming that Varma, who sacrificed his Pithapuram seat for Pawan Kalyan’s victory, has been sidelined by Chandrababu Naidu. While it is true that Varma was promised an MLC seat that remains unfulfilled due to alliance constraints, he was recently appointed as the TDP State Vice President.
However, YSRCP’s criticism seems to overlook its own history of unfulfilled promises. Analysts point out the case of Marri Rajasekhar from Chilakaluripet. In 2019, Rajasekhar was asked to give up his seat for Vidadala Rajini. At that time, Jagan Mohan Reddy publicly promised him an MLC seat and a ministerial berth.
The Hypocrisy in Criticism
The reality of Marri Rajasekhar’s “reward” was quite different. Despite the tall promises, he was kept waiting for four and a half years before finally receiving a post just before the next elections. Unlike Jagan, Chandrababu Naidu never promised Varma a cabinet position, yet YSRCP is projecting the current situation as a massive betrayal.
The TDP cadre argues that assigning the State Vice President role to Varma shows the party’s respect for his contribution. The current trolling by YSRCP is being viewed as a classic case of political irony, where a party that neglected its own loyalists for years is now lecturing others on gratitude.
Strategy vs. Sacrifice
Every political party navigates complex seat-sharing formulas. In the Pithapuram case, the sacrifice was for the greater good of the alliance. In contrast, YSRCP’s decision to replace Rajasekhar in 2019 was purely internal, yet the promised rewards were delayed indefinitely. This comparison highlights that regardless of the party, political loyalists often find themselves at the mercy of shifting power dynamics.
