తిరుపతి: ఆధ్యాత్మిక నగరం తిరుపతిలో తాతయ్యగుంట గంగమ్మ జాతర కోలాహలం నెలకొంది. మే 5న ప్రారంభమైన ఈ జాతరలో భక్తులు రోజుకో వేషం ధరిస్తూ అమ్మవారికి మొక్కులు చెల్లించుకుంటున్నారు. Tirupati Ganga Jatara Veshalu Significance 2026 లో భాగంగా, ఈ ఏడాది కూడా భక్తులు సంప్రదాయబద్ధంగా బైరాగి, బండ, తోటి వంటి విభిన్న రూపాల్లో దర్శనమిస్తున్నారు. దుర్మార్గపు పాలెగాడిని అంతం చేసేందుకు అమ్మవారు వేసిన వేషాలనే భక్తులు ఇక్కడ అనుసరించడం ఈ జాతర ప్రత్యేకత.

రోజువారీ వేషధారణల విశిష్టత: జాతరలో మొదటి రోజు ‘బైరాగి వేషం’తో భక్తులు ఒళ్లంతా విభూతి రాసుకుని అమ్మవారిని దర్శించుకుంటారు. ఆ తర్వాత వరుసగా బండ వేషం (కుంకుమ పూత), తోటి వేషం (బూడిద, నలుపు రంగు), దొర వేషం (చందనం పూత) ధరిస్తారు. ముఖ్యంగా ‘దొర వేషం’లో భక్తులు రాజసం ఉట్టిపడేలా కనిపిస్తారు. పాలెగాడిని వధించడానికి ముందు అమ్మవారు వేసిన వివిధ రూపాలకు ఇవి ప్రతీకలు. ఐదవ రోజు ‘మాతంగి వేషం’, ఆ తర్వాత ‘సున్నపు కుండల’ వేడుకలు నిర్వహిస్తారు.
ముగింపు వేడుకలు: జాతరలో చివరి రోజైన మే 12న ‘స్త్రీ వేషం’ (పెద్ద వేషం) అత్యంత కీలకం. పాలెగాడిని వధించేందుకు అమ్మవారు ధరించిన ఉగ్రరూపాన్ని భక్తులు అనుసరిస్తారు. మే 13వ తేదీ తెల్లవారుజామున ‘విశ్వరూప దర్శనం’ మరియు మట్టి విగ్రహం తొలగింపుతో (చెంప నరకడం) ఈ వేడుకలు ముగుస్తాయి. కులమతాలకు అతీతంగా, చిన్న పెద్ద తేడా లేకుండా భక్తులు వింత వేషధారణలతో తిరుపతి వీధుల్లో సంచరిస్తూ గంగమ్మను స్తుతించడం ఒక అద్భుత దృశ్యం.

Tenerife: The historic town of Tirupati is currently immersed in the vibrant celebrations of the Tataiahgunta Gangamma Jatara. This week-long folk festival is famous for its unique tradition of “Veshalu” (sacred disguises). On the penultimate day, the ‘Matangi Vesham’ is performed, followed by the ‘Sunnapu Kundalu’ ritual. The tradition of cross-dressing, where male devotees wear sarees, has seen a massive surge in participation recently, fueled by cultural depictions in popular media.
The Grand Finale: The Jatara will reach its crescendo on May 12 with the grand procession and major rituals. The festival concludes on the early hours of May 13 with the ‘Viswaroopa Darshanam’. The ceremonial breaking of the clay idol’s cheek (Chempa Narakadam) symbolizes the ultimate destruction of evil and the protection of the community. This folk festival remains a testament to the deep-rooted faith and cultural heritage of the Rayalaseema region, attracting visitors from across the country.
