New Delhi: In a major update for cricket fans, the BCCI on Wednesday announced that the venue for the IPL 2026 final has been relocated. The IPL 2026 Final Venue Shifted to Ahmedabad from its original location, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The title clash is now scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31st.

Operational and Safety Concerns: The decision comes following concerns raised by local authorities and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Last year’s tragic stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s title celebrations led to heightened security requirements. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that certain requirements from local authorities were “beyond the scope of BCCI’s established guidelines and protocols,” making it difficult to host a high-stakes final in Bengaluru. While the stadium underwent safety renovations for league matches, it was deemed insufficient for the final’s scale.

Revised Playoff Schedule: With the final moving to Ahmedabad, the BCCI also confirmed the rest of the playoff itinerary. The first Qualifier will be held in Dharamsala on May 26, followed by the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 in New Chandigarh on May 27 and 29, respectively. This will be the fourth time in five years that the Narendra Modi Stadium, with its massive 132,000 capacity, will host the IPL finale, following its successful hosting of the T20 World Cup final earlier this year.
