బెంగళూరు/మంగళూరు: కర్ణాటకలోని రెండు ప్రధాన నగరాలైన బెంగళూరు మరియు మంగళూరు మధ్య అత్యంత వేగవంతమైన వందే భారత్ ఎక్స్ప్రెస్ ప్రయాణానికి మార్గం సుగమమైంది. హాసన్ నుండి మంగళూరు వరకు ఉన్న కీలక రైల్వే మార్గంలో విద్యుదీకరణ (Electrification) పనులు విజయవంతంగా పూర్తి కావడంతో, నైరుతి రైల్వే అధికారులు త్వరలోనే ట్రయల్ రన్ నిర్వహించేందుకు సిద్ధమవుతున్నారు. Bengaluru/Mangaluru: The long-awaited high-speed connectivity between Karnataka’s state capital and the coastal city of Mangaluru is set to become a reality soon. Following the successful completion of electrification on the Hassan-Mangaluru (Namma Kudla) railway line, the South Western Railway (SWR) is gearing up for the official Bengaluru Mangaluru Vande Bharat Trial Run 2026. This development marks a milestone in improving regional rail infrastructure and reducing travel time between these two vital hubs.
Overcoming the Western Ghats Challenge: The electrification of the challenging 55-km ghat section between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road was the final hurdle in launching the Vande Bharat service on this route. With the completion of these works, electric locos and Self-Propelled Train Sets like Vande Bharat can now navigate the steep terrains without relying on diesel engines. The introduction of this semi-high-speed train is expected to cut travel time by nearly 150-180 minutes, providing a massive relief to thousands of daily commuters and pilgrims.
Launch Expected in May 2026: Following the final safety inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), the trial runs are slated to commence within the next few days. Railway officials indicate that if the trial run is successful, the commercial operations for the Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat could be flagged off by the third week of May 2026. The train will offer a scenic journey through the lush green Western Ghats, and the modern amenities of Vande Bharat will redefine luxury travel for the people of Karnataka.
