రాయలసీమ ప్రయోజనాలే లక్ష్యం
రాయలసీమలో 98 లక్షల ఎకరాల సాగు భూమి ఉన్నప్పటికీ, కేవలం 15 శాతం లోపు మాత్రమే నీటి సరఫరా అందుతోందని, ఇది అత్యంత బాధాకరమని శైలజానాథ్ పేర్కొన్నారు. మాజీ ముఖ్యమంత్రి వైఎస్ జగన్ మోహన్ రెడ్డి రాయలసీమ నీటి అవసరాలను గుర్తించి, ఒక ఇన్స్యూరెన్స్ లాంటి రాయలసీమ ఎత్తిపోతల పథకాన్ని రూపొందించారని ఆయన గుర్తు చేశారు.
శ్రీశైలం ప్రాజెక్టులో నీటి మట్టం తగ్గుతున్న తరుణంలో, రోజుకు 3 టీఎంసీల నీటిని లిఫ్ట్ చేసే సామర్థ్యం ఉన్న ఈ ప్రాజెక్టు సీమకు ప్రాణాధారమని వివరించారు. 80 శాతం పనులు పూర్తయిన ఈ పథకాన్ని తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వ ఒత్తిడి మేరకు నిలిపివేయడం చంద్రబాబు ప్రభుత్వ బాధ్యతారాహిత్యమని ఆయన విమర్శించారు.

Call to Unite for Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme: Dr. Sake Sailajanath
Greater Rayalaseema Task Force Chairman and former minister Dr. Sake Sailajanath has called upon the intellectuals and people of Rayalaseema to join the movement for the protection of the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme. Meeting with Makireddy Purushottam Reddy in Tirupati, he criticized the current AP government’s stance on state water rights and pending projects.
He alleged that the state government is compromising interests under pressure from neighboring states. Sailajanath emphasized that the YSR Congress Party has initiated this struggle to ensure the completion of all pending irrigation projects in the Greater Rayalaseema region.
Focus on Water Rights
Despite having 98 lakh acres of cultivable land in Rayalaseema, only less than 15% is receiving water supply, Sailajanath noted. He highlighted that former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy designed the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme as an insurance policy to secure water for the region even during low water levels in Srisailam.
The project, which has the capacity to lift 3 TMC of water per day, is 80% complete but has been halted by the current government. He warned that ignoring such vital projects while proposing expensive alternatives like Godavari water diversion is merely a tactic to mislead the people of Rayalaseema.
