చైనా రాజధాని సమీపంలోని ఖింగ్‌లాంగ్‌హు ప్రాంతంలో 1,500 ఎకరాల భారీ రహస్య సైనిక కేంద్రం నిర్మాణం సాగుతోంది. ఈ ప్రాజెక్ట్, యుద్ధ సమయంలో చైనా సైనిక నేతలకు రక్షణ కలిగించే ‘డూమ్స్‌డే బంకర్’గా మారనుందని నిపుణులు హెచ్చరిస్తున్నారు. ఇది పెంటగాన్ కంటే దాదాపు పదింతలు పెద్దదిగా ఉండనుంది.
2024 మధ్యలో ప్రారంభమైన ఈ నిర్మాణాన్ని సాటిలైట్ చిత్రాలు (satellite images) ద్వారా గుర్తించిన అమెరికా ఇంటెలిజెన్స్, ఇది చైనా సైనిక వ్యూహంలో కీలకమైన ముందడుగుగా అభివర్ణించింది. చైనాలోని ఈ సైనిక కేంద్రం బీజింగ్‌కు 30 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో ఖింగ్‌లాంగ్‌హు (Qinglonghu) అనే ప్రాంతంలో విస్తరిస్తోంది.

China building underground ‘doomsday bunker’ near Beijing in massive secret military city
China is constructing a massive secret military base called the “Beijing Military City” over 1,500 acres near Qinglonghu, about 20 miles (30 km) southwest of the capital. Experts believe this underground facility could serve as a doomsday bunker for China’s top military leadership, including President Xi Jinping.
Satellite images revealed the construction began around mid-2024, according to US intelligence officials. This underground complex is roughly ten times the size of the Pentagon, which spans just 583 acres. It features reinforced bunkers and extensive underground tunnels, designed to survive nuclear strikes.
According to the Financial Times, deep excavation pits and tunnel networks suggest it is built to protect China’s Central Military Commission in wartime. The site appears heavily fortified and inaccessible to the public, with bans on drones, photography, and entry clearly posted.
The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is targeting full modernization by 2027 and aims to stockpile 1,500 nuclear weapons by 2035—on par with US capabilities. Analysts see this facility as preparation for a possible invasion of Taiwan or confrontation with the United States.
Although no visible troop movement has been observed, the high-security warnings indicate sensitive operations. Chinese officials have made no public comment, and local media has remained silent on the project.
